A transitional housing solution for NDIS support services participants.

Finding the right long-term home doesn’t always happen straight away, which is why we provide caring and supportive assistance through Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) services for people with disabilities in Adelaide. Medium Term Accommodation in Adelaide is a valuable part of NDIS support services funding designed to help you live safely and comfortably while you wait for your permanent housing to become available.

Whether you're transitioning from hospital, waiting on home modifications, or preparing to move into Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), MTA gives you the peace of mind that you won’t be left without appropriate housing during these important life changes.

What is Medium Term Accommodation (MTA)?

Medium Term Accommodation is a temporary housing support funded by the NDIS support services for eligible participants who are unable to move into their long-term housing due to a disability-related delay. This support acts as a bridge, helping you live in a safe, accessible, and supportive environment while you wait for your confirmed long-term housing arrangement to be ready.

At PACC, we are MTA providers in Adelaide and tailor our support to each individual’s needs, ensuring the accommodation we provide is comfortable, secure, and aligned with your NDIS support services plan. Our team collaborates closely with participants, their families, support coordinators, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a smooth and supported transition during this temporary period.

When is MTA in Adelaide utilised?

MTA is commonly used when there is a known and confirmed long-term housing solution in place, but a temporary gap must be covered due to circumstances beyond your control. For example, you may be waiting for disability-related home modifications to be completed or for your approved Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) to be built or become available.

It’s also used when a person is leaving a hospital, aged care, or another institutional setting but is unable to move directly into their long-term home. In some situations, Medium Term Accommodation in Adelaide may be provided if your current living environment is no longer suitable or sustainable, such as when safety is at risk or your support needs have significantly changed.

In all these cases, MTA ensures that you’re not left in limbo. Instead, you can continue to receive the support you need in a stable and suitable living environment.

What does Medium Term Accommodation with NDIS cover?

MTA in Adelaide covers the cost of accommodation only. This means the funding is used to cover the daily costs of your temporary housing for up to 90 days (with some exceptions for extensions, which are approved by the NDIS as needed).

However, it’s important to note that MTA with NDIS does not cover the cost of everyday living expenses such as groceries, utilities, or internet. It also doesn’t include personal care or support services—these are funded separately through your NDIS support services plan, if eligible.

PACC works closely with participants and their plan managers to ensure all elements of support are coordinated during the MTA accommodation period. Our goal is to make this transition period as seamless and stress-free as possible.

What MTA in Adelaide is not

Medium Term Accommodation in Adelaide is not designed to be a catch-all housing solution. It is not emergency accommodation, and it’s not intended to replace long-term housing or be used as a holiday or short-term respite service.

It also isn’t a permanent option—MTA in Adelaide is a short-term arrangement to support you while your confirmed long-term housing becomes ready. This distinction is important because NDIS support services require a clear plan in place for what comes next. At PACC, we help ensure those next steps are well understood and supported.

Who is eligible for MTA?

To be eligible for MTA in Adelaide, you must be an NDIS support services participant who has a confirmed long-term housing solution that is temporarily unavailable for a disability-related reason. You must also require temporary accommodation while you wait for that housing to become accessible, available, or safe to move into.

We can assist with reviewing your eligibility, gathering necessary documentation, and collaborating with your support coordinator to submit a strong case to NDIS support services if Medium Term Accommodation in Adelaide is required.
